Is it dangerous to be tear gassed?
There is no question that it is dangerous to be tear gassed. Recently, Chloracne is appearing in Hong Kong who has been experiencing high levels of tear gas, possibly every week for a few months. People in Irag has also been killed by heavy military tear gas grenades.
When tear gas hit cars and traffic
Tear gas canister aren´t supposed to hit anything, the gas should just be spread in the air. However, in numourous occations in the last months, tear gas has hit cars and actually completely destroyed one in Puerto Rico this summer. Can cars also protect against tear gas? Yes, an electric car does so the best.
Students being teargassed
For some reason, students have been tear gassed a lot in countries around the world. Why? Nobody knows, but possibly because they often take part in protests a lot as they organize in student groups and unions.
Rinse with water
If you are affected by tear gas, rinse you eyes and skin with water. Not hot, COLD. Don´t take a bath since then you will be swimming around in the chemical gas. Innovative solutions rinsing your eyes are coming up, as sometimes you waste a complete bottle of water to rinse your eyes which is not very effective.
Collateral damage
Tear gas often affect people that weren´t targeted to begin with. It can be kids, elderly, in general citizens who are not taking part in riots or protests. Sometimes tear gas reaches places where it shouldn´t be, like up high in resident buildings, grocery stores or in metros.
